12:17pm MIDDAY REPORT: Leading shares plunged in early deals with the FTSE 100 trading around just below the 4000 mark at lunchtime today after dipping below that level in earlier trade. At 11.47am the FTSE 100 was 322.2 points down at 3991.60. The DOW tumbled below the 9,000 mark for the first time since August 2003 losing 7.3% in the process. Finance ministers from the G7 leading industrial countries are set to meet in Washington to discuss the crisis. US President George W Bush is due to make an address to the American people later in the day. Companies reporting in London today include Admiral.
